Megan has been a plant-loving pixie ever since she was a wee one running through the woods in the deep South. She received her Herbal Certification from the California School of Herbal Studies in 2003 and has been immersed into the world of healing ever since. In the Spring of 2010, Megan became a yoga instructor after completing 8 Limbs Yoga Center's 200-hour Teacher Training program. In addition to being a yoga and herb nerd, Megan loves cooking and baking healthy food, gardening, making green juices and smoothies, hanging with her little gal Ida, laughing, and of course making sure Capitol Hill has a wonderful selection of local and organic medicinal herbs.

Buffy Aakaash returned to Seattle in 2005 after nearly ten years of living in rural community in both Tennessee and New Mexico. During this time in the woods, he studied the plants of these places, concocting his own strange brews, wines and beers and introducing fellow community members to his favorite plant friends. One day, he skipped away to train with Eliot Cowan, and became a Plant Spirit Medicine Healer in 2002, now practicing privately in Seattle. An initiated Firekeeper with the international Sacred Fire Community, he holds monthly fires at his home with his partner in the south end of town.

Rae takes care of the energetics at Rainbow. She ended up in this position via a twisty, windy path that found her at one time harvesting seaweed in Maine (most exhausting and chilly work), at another time parading around with an accordion strapped to her abdomen and a puppet strapped to her head (he was also parading). Her journeys to and through herbal and energetic modalities of healing have been driven by an overwhelming sense that nature provides solutions to all problems in one way or another. Rae's education and training includes private mentorships with a Lakota shaman and a Reiki master, an almost endless stream of nonfiction reading, and various and sundry degrees from the university of life.

Dr. Cecily’s spiraling journey of self-discovery has taken her through a Bachelor’s of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience, certification as a Reiki Master/Teacher, training and licensing as a naturopathic physician and massage therapist and five years of shamanic and oracle studies. The foundation of her naturopathic and shamanic practice is supporting and empowering her patients to define themselves on their own terms, and to connect with and fully embody their own unique gifts, talents and destiny in a joyful and sustainable way. When not chatting with the herbs and customers at Rainbow, Cecily can be found at her private practice in Fremont, or at the BENT Writing Institute writing poetry for the stage and her first memoir.

Leah is our store Manager and loves to answer questions and help people navigate through the wealth of plant based healing! She began her career as a horticulturist and Permaculturist and spent the next years traveling and studying around the country, with a focus on the Northwest, Hawaii, Georgia and North Carolina. Her love of plants and sustainability blossomed and deepened as she moved in the direction of natural health and after completing massage school she began studying Herbalism in earnest. Now a student of the East West school of Herbology, she looks forward to sharing her knowledge and helping Rainbow to become even more of an invaluable community resource.

Sara is so proud to be working at Rainbow. A 5 year resident of 15th avenue and a mad kitchen chemist, Sara is self educated with an emphasis on aromatherapy, body care and an extensive knowledge of tea.  She is a bit of a penny pincher and has created many various concoctions ranging from laundry detergent to rosy tinted lip balm.  She is very excited to gain more education in the realm of herbal remedies, homeopathy and nutrition. Sara can be found at any given moment having a cup of tea, schmoozing with her dog B.B. Gunn, or inspecting the details of a flower.  Viva La Rainbow!!.

Corrine moved to Seattle by way of North Carolina and is so happy to be part of the Rainbow community. She graduated with her MFA in fiction writing in the same year that she became certified as a yoga instructor and has been exploring the intersections between the two practices ever since. She has studied with a Reiki Master, explored Thai Yoga massage, and most recently has begun a self-education in growing food and exploring healing through nourishment. She loves actively engaging in the community and is grateful to have the opportunity to do so in Seattle. When she’s not working on her novel or leading yoga classes around town you can find her playing outside and getting her hands in the dirt.
